The IK9 Team

Shane is a retired federal law enforcement officer with more than 40 years of experience training and working dogs. He started out with field trial, hunting, and family dogs, and later built his career around detection and patrol dogs. He grew up in a family that trained working dogs and has spent his career learning from experienced professionals in the field.

His work includes contracts with the Department of State as a kennel master and canine trainer, where he was responsible for keeping K9 security teams operating at the highest level. He has also competed dogs in field trials and other competitions for many years.

Daniel grew up in a working dog family, and dogs have been part of his life for as long as he can remember.

He went on to train working dogs at Police Dogs Centre Holland, the Netherlands company founded by Arnold van den Oetelaar that supplies police, customs, and military K9s around the world. He earned his trainer certification through their program while working with dogs headed for police and military service.

At Independence K9, Daniel trains dogs and works directly with clients in every program. He reads a dog well, has a good flow when he's working one, and has an easy way with owners and handlers.
